I have been involved with fire photography for over 35 years. My interest began many years ago when I joined my brother Rick and my friend Alan Chanewski to buff fires . One of the first fires I went to photograph was a large lumber yard and mill style building that was burning in Meriden. This was the beginning of a lifelong hobby. Over the years I have traveled throughout New England and the metropolitan New York area to buff fires and attend firematic events. Through these events, I have met many fellow fire photographers that I admire and respect and have developed lifelong friendships with.
I have been involved with the Connecticut Fire Photographers Association from the inception of the organization. I have held every position including President throughout the years. My other interests are reading, film and video photography and travel. I am a true fire buff and firematic collector. My firematic collection includes house watch journals, medal day books, firematic lithographs and photographs and decanters.
I live in Wethersfield with my wife and two teenage children. I am a recently retired member of Wethersfield Volunteer Fire Department Company 2 after serving for 30 years.
